Dear Friends
Today the sun is bursting out, dazzling the snow dusted landscape, and I still can’t face doing anything in the garden! It’s freezing! But in spite of that, tiny native daffodils deck the riverbanks and woodland walks.I feel warm inside, remembering wonderful gatherings and meetings of friends, remarkable people, sharings, extraordinary breakthroughs. The rich threads of Family Constellations draw together the heart and soul of the family that longs to be free.
I realise I haven’t done justice to the latest Masterclass series starting, by popular demand, the weekend of 8 to 10 March, the last chance to jump in this year, or at this price – so here goes.
New Masterclass Series begins
Friday 8th- Sunday 10th March
Not just for therapists, it’s a Training for anyone who wants to go deeper with Bert Hellinger’s inspirational work. It also offers experience, skills and understanding for those who would like to integrate this work into their own already existing practice, whether that be as bodyworkers, psychotherapists, life coaches, health professionals etc.For example, many homeopaths are already using Constellation techniques to assist their choice of remedies.
So it’s about using Family Constellations in a one-to-one setting, leading up to working with small groups. The approach is experiential, with numbers kept small to allow individual attention, in a safe, supportive atmosphere. Time is given to receiving individual Constellations, as well as to practicing, and learning the underlying skills and principles of the work.
I remember a one-to-one Constellation session with a client who had just been diagnosed with terminal cancer. She wanted to know what treatment to choose, but the session revealed far more than that. The cancer appeared like a child, very alive and wanting to play.
Meeting her a few years later she said that that she was healthy and well, and that in that session she had lost all fear of her cancer, giving her the confidence to follow a mainly naturopathic healing.
The series will span six weekends over about a year, on dates agreeable to the group, at this year’s special price of £299 per weekend, fully residential. Certificates of Attendance will be given. £100 deposit will secure your place.
The setting is close to Exeter, with easy M5/A30 or train access. In this ancient farmstead, beautifully sheltered on the Teign’s sunny south slope but enjoying stunning views over Dartmoor from its serene meditation space, silent from traffic and truly dark under the night sky, it’s easy to reconnect with deeper levels, both of the planet and of oneself.
Around the kitchen table, generously plied with the very best of vegetarian wholefood cooking, lifelong friendships are made.
Family Constellation Weekends
The regular Family Constellation weekend workshops continue. The next are 22-24 March and 19-21 April.
"When the family is brought into order, an individual from that family can leave the nest. He feels the power of the family behind him. Only when the connection to the family is recognized, and the responsibilities have been made clear and divided up, does the individual feel free of burden. He can go his own way, without the past burdening him and tying him down." Bert Hellinger
Constellation tales from a friend
1. I had been living in India for many years.Although my roots were in England I seemed to be unable to return home. The therapist asked me to choose a representative for the east, one for the west and one for me. Placing them in the room, I put myself facing the west.
It felt like a cold chasm that couldn’t be bridged. I could only take very small hesitant steps. I soon realised that the west was my father, and the east was my mother, who then came right behind me. When she did this I was able to move forward and approach him, melting into his arms. Not long after, I moved back to England.
2. I did a session with a co-therapist, on a work issue.
She had been very touched by Hellinger’s insight that unless we can receive our mother, nothing will flourish in our work, relationships or life. In a one-to-one Constellation, she took the place of my mother and I stood opposite.
I was unable to come close or to look her in the eyes, so strong was the feeling of shame. I squirmed, intensely uncomfortable in my body. I then noticed an unpleasant smell, even though we were both freshly showered. After a long time of her just waiting, something relaxed in me and I was able to come into her arms, but only for short moments, as if my system could only take small doses.
After that session, my mother, who never was able to choose presents for me, rang excitedly, with what she wanted to buy for my birthday. This was the first time since my childhood that she could offer me a gift that I really wanted to receive.
"The family is the ground in which we take root. As long as we do not know and recognize these roots, the wings that we grow will be weak. Family Constellations are a way to discover these roots and to free them from those things which weaken or damage them" From “You can't have wings if you don't have roots" by Bertold Ulsamer
